The South Sudan Audit Chamber today launched its five-year strategic plan which aims at creating a strong institution that will be efficient in auditing the numerous government institutions throughout the country.

Steven Wondu, who chairs the National Audit Chamber, told the press this morning that he would be very happy if after five years both the government and the community were aware that authorities are accountable for the funds they manage.

He added that the state funds should be used to serve public needs.

Asked about the challenges facing the Audit Chamber, Mr. Wondu pointed out two: lack of money and of human resources to be able to function better.

Mr. Wondu called on government officials to cooperate with members of the Audit Chamber when they are carrying out their constitutional duties.
