Rumbek Central County Commissioner has called on members of the public who are still in possession of illegal guns to give them up to the relevant authorities.
Matur Majok Magol told Good News Radio that army forces will continue with the disarmament exercise until Lakes State authorities are sure that there are no more guns in civilian hands. He expressed confidence that peace will prevail as soon as all illegal guns are collected.
The commissioner added that after the disarmament exercise police officers will be able to maintain law and order without fear.
Mr. Majok said Lakes State Governor Chol Tong issued a directive to recover all stolen cattle in Cueibet, Rumbek Central and Rumbek North Counties.
The commissioners from the three counties formed a committee to organize meetings with local leaders and the youth to prepare the recovery process.
He revealed that Rumbek Central County has handed over 23 cows to the commissioner of Cueibet who on his turn returned 171 heads of cattle.
Mr. Majok added that 45 more cows were recovered on Sunday and that the process to recover all the stolen cattle is still going on.
