The national ministers for interior, defence and national security did not turn up today at the National Legislative Assembly to explain to MPs why crime and insecurity are on the increase in the capital city.

The Mayor of Juba and the Governor of Central Equatoria State were among the officials summoned for the hearing but did not turn up either.

Addressing MPs, speaker James Wani Igga said some ministers were away for a retreat in Kenya while others claimed they did not to have received the summon on time.

MPs gave these officials until Monday to prepare and come before the House.

Speaker Igga ordered the chairperson of the security committee to hand personally the summoning letter to all the officials.
