The Advent season that started two Sundays ago is essential for the Christian faith.

The administrator of Rumbek Catholic diocese, Fernando Colombo, said in a live show at Radio Don Bosco radio that Advent has deep roots in the tradition of the Church, in Scripture and in the liturgy.

He explained that Advent means √É’expectation’ saying that the whole Christians life is an advent, a waiting for the Lord.

Fr. Colombo said that Advent is a season of instruction from the Church reminding believers that they are expecting, journeying towards the promise of the Lord, the fulfilment of his Good News.

He added that the Advent season is marked by prayer through listening to the Word of God.

He urged people to cut down on alcohol drinks because they do not give room to God.

Fr. Colombo noted that if anyone wants the Word of God live in him or her, one should renounce to the gratification of the body by overeating and drinking.
