South Sudan troops have repelled yesterday a fresh attack by the Sudan Armed Forces in a farming area of Upper Nile state.

Upper Nile state minister of information Peter Lam told Bakhita Radio that Sudanese troops attacked Dandar village yesterday morning at 4:30 AM.

He said the SPLA was able to repel the attackers back to Sudan’s White Nile State.

He noted that this time the SAF carried out the attack with its own forces instead of using militias.

Mr. Lam said South Sudan is running out of patient with SAF’s activities.

He called on the international community to press the Government of Sudan that there is no justifiable reason for the two states to go back to war after the independence of South Sudan.

Mr. Lam said president Omar al-Bashir is attacking South Sudan to distract the people of the Sudan and avoid the reforms they are calling for.

He added that Sudan may be trying to annex some rich areas before the border between the two countries is marked.

He added that this was what happened in Abyei but the Republic of South Sudan is entitled to protect its territories from foreign invasion.
