Tonj East County Commissioner said he is not convinced that all unauthorized guns were already collected from civilians in his area.
Gai Manyuan said 1,446 guns were collected in the six payams of Tonj East and handed over to Colonel Muar Anyar who is in charge of disarmament in Greater Tonj.
He said that he believes that many more guns remain hidden and some civilians admitted it to him.
Mr Manyuan said Tonj East is a vast area with poor infrastructure and lack of mobile network coverage.
He noted that the second phase of disarmament will take place as soon as possible.
The commissioner made these statements during a conflict strategies meeting in Cueibet County, Lakes state on Tuesday.
The meeting was conducted by the commissioners of Tonj South and Tonj East of Warrap State and Cueibet County of Lakes State.
