GOVERNOR OPENS TORIT MODERN MARKET

Eastern Equatoria Governor Monday received from South Sudan Recovery Fund the keys of a model market built in Torit and some road building equipment.

Louis Lobong Lojore said during the occasion that markets and road equipment are big assets of the state government, Radio Emmanuel reported.

He added that the equipment will be used to open a road network to reach with services to the rural areas.

Meanwhile UNDP country Director, George Conway said the model market and the road equipment are part of a 2.6 million US dollars livelihoods project to address the lack of market infrastructure.

He added that it will increase crop productivity and facilitate commercial development in Eastern Equatoria.

The projects aim at generating income for targeted farmers within Torit, Magwi, Lafon/Lopa and Budi counties, through crop production, management training and installation of water pumps to support income-generating activities.
