ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER BASED VIOLENCE KICKS OF IN YEI PAYAMS

The 16-day activism against gender based violence at payam level in Yei River County kicked off today in Mugwo payam under the theme “From peace in the home to peace in the world.”

The chairperson of the organizing committee for the activism in Yei River County Kepo Moses John said the aim of the 16 days of activism campaign at payam level is to create responsiveness to the general public at grassroots about the effects of domestic violence, Radio Easter reported.

The chairperson for Yei River County Women Association in Sara Natalina appealed to the women in the payam to take the message of fighting against domestic violence to the women in the bomas.

She said her office is working hard with the county education office to open adult education schools in all the payams with the aim of reducing the rate of illiteracy among women.
