The former Abyei administrator said that the Sudanese Armed Forces are strengthening their positions in the disputed Rregion of Abyei.
Speaking to Bakhita Radio this morning in Juba, Deng Arop said he received information from reliable sources that SAF are increasing the number of heavy weapons and artillery guns in the Abyei area.Mr. Arop said the Sudanese Army is making more defensive positions to hold to Abyei.
He advised the Ethiopian peacekeepers to be serious and keep an eye on the Sudanese forces.
Mr. Arop said SAF is not willing to withdraw from Abyei despite a peace deal they signed with South Sudan in Addis Ababa.
The Abyei issue remains among the major remaining CPA unresolved problems.
Talks between Juba and Khartoum are expected to resume after the holy month of Ramadan end.
