The spokesperson of the South Sudan army has refuted media reports that the SPLA is ready to send peacekeepers to Somalia.

Phillip Aguer told SCR News that the South Sudar army is still rebuilding itself changing from what he called a quantitative army into a qualitative army.

He said once the change is done, the SPLA will be ready to abide by international peace keeping principles of collective security.

The spokesperson however did not divulge as to when his army will have turned into a more professional force able to participate in peace keeping missions.

Deng Alor Kuol, caretaker foreign affairs minister, said South Sudan was prepared to support the force to show its commitment to peace in Africa.
