The rate of gender based violence in Yei River County is on the increase compared with previous months.
Woi Wilson, in charge of Yei Police Gender Desk, told Easter Radio that the rate of gender based violence, especially early marriage and rape cases, is growing.
He explained that sex with underage people is always against the law even if it is with agreement.
Mr. Woi said girls in Yei County are mainly affected by early marriage.
He urged parent to take care of their children, adding that they should give them proper guidance.
Mr. Woi appeal to the parents to think about the wellbeing of their girls rather than marrying them early to get some money or cows.
He urged parents and caretakers, including the police, to join hands in order to reduce such incidents of gender based violence in the community.
