KIIR RELIEVES PRESIDENTIAL ADVISORS AND APPOINTS COUNCIL OF STATES

The President of the Republic issued a decree relieving a dozen of presidential advisors from their positions in order to appoint them to the newly created Council of States.

Salva Kiir Mayardit issued yesterday Presidential Decree Number 13/2011 relieving of 12 Presidential Advisors, GoSS website reported.

Most of the relieved presidential advisors were appointed members of the Council of State, including Alfred Lado Gore and Martin Elia Lomuro, the leader of South Sudan Democratic Forum.

The Council of States was instituted by the South Sudan Transitional Constitution.

The 116 members of the Council of States were appointed by President Kiir on Monday.

They include the 20 members of the former Council of States of the Republic of Sudan, 30 representatives from the ten states of South Sudan and 66 members chosen by the president.
