The President of the Republic has urged leaders to put the country first and be accountable for their duties.
Salva Kiir Mayardit made this appeal during his speech at Martyrs’ Day on Saturday in Juba.He said the time has come for those in government to be honest and responsible towards state properties.
Mr. Kiir added that any person who puts his or her interest above the nation is useless.
He explained that transparency and accountability are critical for the new state.
Mr. Kiir added that his government will not allow anybody to misuse public resources for private gains.
He said those addicted to mishandle state money will have to account for it.
