Humanitarian agencies foresee that a further 300,000 returnees may come to South Sudan following decline of living conditions in the Sudan.

The UN says in its South Sudan Weekly Humanitarian Bulletin that partners are urgently working to increase the capacity to provide onward transport for the possible influx of 300,000 returnees as a result of deteriorating security and economic conditions for South Sudanese in Sudan.

During the month of July some 10,000 returnees arrived in Renk, Upper Nile, and some 6,300 people are still in town, awaiting transport.

Humanitarian groups are negotiating with local authorities the establishment of 12 temporary sites Upper Nile, Lakes, in Jonglei and Central Equatoria to accommodate 15,000 people for three to six months.

Since October 2010, over 326 thousand people returned to South Sudan.
