The health ministry in the Republic of South Sudan is set to introduce what is called Triple P Programme – Public Private Partnership – to improve health services in the country.
Caretaker information minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin told journalists that the programme was passed unanimously at yesterday’s council of ministers.He explained the programme aims at increasing the availability of quality health services to the people of South Sudan.
Dr. Marial said the programme will help the government to reconstruct and renovate health centres that are already available.
He explained that 240 out of 514 payams are recommended by the minister to be put in the Triple P Programme.
He said the government is not privatizing the health system but it wants the private sector to help build an effective health service in South Sudan.
Dr. Marial explained that the Triple P Programme has been used by developed countries worldwide and other developing countries in Africa.
