The Catholic Archdiocese of Juba is making preparations to establish a new parish in South Bari region.

Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro told church personnel last evening that Lobonok pastoral region will be upgraded to become a parish.

He added that Lobonok parish will open officially on September 21, the feast of St. Matthew Apostle, its patron saint.

Lobonok pastoral region was part of Rejaf parish until now.

With the new foundation, Juba Archdiocese will have 12 parishes.

Ten are run by local clergy and two by missionaries.

Archbishop Lukudu said he will soon appoint a parish priest and an assistant parish priest for Lobonok.

The appointments will produce some changes in the distribution of priests in the archdiocese.
