The church personnel of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba celebrated last evening the independence of South Sudan with a supper organized by the archdiocesan administration.
A good number of lay people, sisters, brothers and priests got together with Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro and Bishop Paride Taban to celebrate the independence of South Sudan.Archbishop Lukudu said the administration had planned the supper for last week but it was postponed due to the sudden death of Bishop Caesar Mazzolari of Rumbek.
The archbishop said he felt the church personnel needed to come together to say thank you to one another for the great work done towards the referendum and the declaration of independence.
He added that the church personnel did a lot for both events to be a success.
Archbishop Lukudu asked the PALICA director to meet with a think-tank and plan the next action.
He explained that the new country is here. South Sudan achieved its independence. What next? Ð he asked.
The archbishop explained that the Church has to do something to see the baby growing.
Archbishop Lukudu announced a popular mission preached by a Ugandan priest for the end of August to say thanks for the new country and to say sorry for what went wrong.
