The women of the Republic of South Sudan have been called to strive for self-reliance through hard work.
Women for Women International Country Director Karak Mayik Denyok made the call while celebrating the independence of South Sudan with a women’s group of Abina-Ajok, in Rumbek Central County, Good News Radio reported.Ms. Mayik urged her fellow women to get involved in building South Sudan through collective efforts and with the work of their hands.
She cautioned South Sudanese women about the 25 percent of public places allotted to them, insisting that this percentage is meant for hardworking and responsible women who
Ms. Mayik said the freedom the South Sudanese achieved did not mean that women sit back and wait for food aid from humanitarian organizations.
She maintained that whereas the government has the role of providing security, education and health s, parents have to provide food, clothing and shelter to their kids.
Ms. Mayik decried the laziness of South Sudanese, wondering why people are not cultivating the God-given fertile lands to eat what they grow in their own country.
She chastised a section of South Sudanese women who have the habit of not getting involved in providing for their families.
