South Sudanese living in Sudan will have their status changed from citizens to foreigners within nine months.
Adam Dalil Adam, who directs the passports and civil registry, said on Monday that by March 2012 some one million Southerners will be subjected to all the laws regulating the presence of foreigners in the Sudan.The Sudanese parliament passed an amendment to the emigration law to strip southerners off Sudanese citizenship.
Meanwhile, the Sudanese authorities ordered employers to present a list with the names of all South Sudanese in their payrolls.
