The retired bishop of Torit told the civil society organizations this morning in Juba that religion is a source of unity among the peoples of South Sudan.
Bishop Paride Taban addressed the attendance at the first Civil Society Convention that started to at Nyakuron Cultural Centre, Bakhita Radio reported.The prelate testified that his father was a Muslim but allowed him to be a Catholic priest.
His school fees were paid by a Muslim trader.
He said there is no problem between Christianity and Islam and religion should unite people under the One God.
Bishop Paride revealed that he looked after more than 500 Muslim prisoners of war captured by the SPLA.
He called on the citizens of South Sudan to avoid discriminating others on the basis of religion, sex or colour.
