Officials from the South Sudan demobilization body known as DDR Commission are attending a four-day workshop with international partners to come up with a strategic plan for the next five years.
Ambrose Kambaya, a member of the DDR commission, told SCR News that the main objective of the meeting is to plan for a strategy that will improve effectively the demobilization activities in South Sudan.Mr. Kambaya said the DDR Commission intends to prepare a five-year strategic plan to guide the reintegration of former soldiers into civilian life.
He explained that the new DDR policy is to be implemented through line ministries unlike the previous one that was done by NGOs.
William Deng Deng, who heads the DDR Commission, recently told reporters that the new policy will kick-start before the end of this month.
