A delegation from the European Parliament said the region will not achieve the Millennium Development Goals by the year 2015.

The Italian Liberal and Democrat EMP Niccol˜ Rinaldi, who is among the five-member delegation visiting South Sudan, said the reduction in infant mortality, which is one of the MDG goals, is extremely worrying and will not be achieved.

He added that with the current budget plans, the other goals will never be achieved as well.

However, the delegation acknowledged the efforts that the country and the international community are carrying out to promote the respect for democratic principles and the economic development.
