Refugees fleeing the conflict in South Kordofan are flocking to Unity State amid lack of facilities to accommodate them.

Talking to SCR News, Governor Taban Deng of Unity State appealed to the UN and other humanitarian organziations to intervene and help the displaced people with better services than what is available in the Nuba Mountains.

The conflict in South Kordofan started at the beginning of June when the Sudan Armed Forces tried to forcefully disarm SPLA-affiliated forces in the state.

The conflict has displaced thousands of mainly the black people in the area.
