Eastern Equatoria state deputy speaker called for the removal of illegal fire-arms from the hands of civilians, saying it fuels insecurity and prevents development of the new nation.

Paul Napwon stressed that the government of the Republic of South Sudan should institute an immediate general disarmament of the civil community in the country.

He added that disarmament of the civil population allows peace to prevail while firearms retain violence and hinder development.

Mr. Napwon mentioned that the economy of the new nation relies on prevalence of peace and arms free communities.
