The Director of Nutrition in Eastern Equatoria Ministry of Health advised parents to control malnutrition cases in young children through birth spacing and good feeding.

Rachel Awedia said most death cases of young babies are due to malnutrition and delayed medical attention.

She appealed to the mothers to visit health facilities and ensure their babies are in good health.

A nutrition survey carried in the state recently shows high malnutrition prevalence among children less than five years in Kapoeta East, Kapoeta West, Lopa and Budi Counties.

Ms. Awedia urged the mothers to exclusively breast feed their babies for six months before introducing them to complementary food.
