The Republic of South Sudan has issued its own postal stamps.
Director General in the Telecommunication Ministry Elijah Biar Koul told SCR News that his ministry has ordered 100,000 postal stamps of different values.The stamps show Dr. John Garang’s picture, the map of South Sudan and the coat of arms for the Republic of South Sudan.
The Post Office authorities said the new stamps will be in circulation on Monday.
The Catholic Radio Network (CRN) is a media project constituted by community-based radio stations broadcasting in Frequency Modulation from Juba, Yei, Torit, Yambio, Rumbek, Tonj, Wau, and Malakal. CRN has also a station in the Nuba Mountains. All the stations share the same vision and mission, and are bound by common editorial and administrative policies. All stations broadcast shared programs in English: news, civic education, and other educational programs. Due to the heterogeneous realities of South Sudan, each station is rooted in its locality and broadcasts locally produced culture-sensitive programs in the languages which are understood by the local people. For its outreach, CRN has a potential audience of about seven million people, considering the influx of returnees to South Sudan after the Sudan Population Census 2008.
