The security situation in South Sudan has improved compared to the recent months marked by many conflicts that killed hundreds and displaced thousands in the last months.
SPLA spokesperson Col. Phillip Aguer Panyang told SCR News over the phone that clashes with militia groups have stopped across South Sudan. He added that many militias and their leaders have been forced out of South Sudan and they are hiding in Sudan.
Mr. Aguer admitted that militias supported by Khartoum pose a security threat to South Sudan.
He added that border demarcation was not concluded yet and it could be another source of insecurity.
South Sudan was the setting of several clashes between different communities and by militia groups prior to the declaration of independence that killed over 1,500 people.
