Calm has returned to Kapoeta, Eastern Equatoria, following intense confrontations between Dinka and Darfur communities.

Kapoeta County Commissioner Martin Lorika Lotyam told the pres that Kapoeta town is now calm.

He said the clash started on Monday after a Darfuri motorist met with Dinka dancers near the Mosque.

It seems that the dancers started barking at the driver.

The driver flushed the headlights at the dancers and they beat him up while he tried to take refuge in the mosque.

Other people were also beaten at the mosque.

Mr. Lorika said six people were injured.

They are undergoing treatment at Katiko Hospital.

Two are in critical condition.

The commissioner said the public security arrested a young man named Malith Garang who instigated the whole innocent dancing troop to beat the Darfuris.

Mr. Garang is under questioning at the security headquarters in Kapoeta.
