Tonj is secure and the shootings that scared residents last night were festive.

Tonj South County Chief Inspector of Police Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Mayey said youths who were firing guns last night were celebrating the independence of South Sudan, Don Bosco FM reported.

He assured the concerned residents that security in Tonj was guaranteed.

Mayey said yesterday the Agok community from Cueibet in Lakes State sent back 16 heads of cattle that had been stolen in February.

He said that there is no lost love between Tonj South and Cueibet peoples.

South Tonj and Cueibet communities have maintained very tense relations due to cattle rustling activities.
