The citizens of the Republic of South Sudan should be grateful and accountable to God for the gift of their independence.
This is the main message Bishop Barani Eduardi Hiirboro Kussala of Tombura-Yambio delivered to his diocese in a pastoral letter titled “This day was made by the Lord” to celebrate the independence of South Sudan.Bishop Hiiboro told SCR News over the phone from Yambio that Southerners should be thankful to God because he answered their century-long prayers for independence.
He added that the independence was a spiritual exercise.
Bishop Hiiboro said the celebration of independence should teach the people the value of patience and faith in God.
He added that these two values should guide the citizens in healing the wounds of the past and build the new nation in order to consolidate a true and peaceful country.
Bishop Hiiboro said he celebrated the independence relaxed and without fear because God made it happen and God was with His people.
