South Sudan soldiers are searching for children that were abducted last week at Kudo Payam of Torit County in Eastern Equatoria.
Three children were kidnapped by unknown poeple while their parents were working in their fields nine days ago.State minister for Parliamentary Affairs Chichim Laku said the army was looking for the children but the abductees used a different route through Central Equatoria state.
However, the military were able to free other children who were abducted from Central Equatoria.
Mr. Laku said the three children were abducted from a shelter where their parents left them while they were working.
The minister assured the people of Eastern Equatoria that such acts of abduction would not interfere with the independence celebrations.
Meanwhile, Paul Napwon, who heads Eastern Equatoria committee for independence celebrations, told the press that the state security was prepared to provide a safe environment for the celebrations.
