Dr. Daniel Mamer is a professor of Economics and Dean at the College of Economics and Social Studies, University of Rumbek. He told Good News Radio that the present cultural practices do not favour the education of girls and the empowerment of women.
Stressing the value of girl child education, Dr. Mamer said that he strongly believes that a country without educated women is no country and that there cannot be nation building without the education of girls.
Dr. Mamer also said that unlike during his younger days when South Sudan did not have educated women, the country has some women as role models.
He gave the example of some educated and visionary lady members of Parliament, saying that some of them exhibit signs of intellectual preparedness.
