Bishop Caesar Mazzolari made this statement while opening the SCRN coordinators’ meeting that started in Rumbek yesterday.
The bishop said the Catholic radio stations should not be alarmist but they should not hide their heads in the sand or ignore the reality.
Bishop Mazzolari added that the radio stations should present documented facts and truths and instruct listeners on their duties and also on their rights.
The Bishop of Rumbek urged the SCRN stations to teach the poor, displaced and marginalized to lead them to stand up for their rights and to force the authorities to pay attention to the weaker members of the community.
Bishop Mazzolari urged the coordinators to take the lead from the early Christian communities and practice financial self-reliance by sharing resources.
