Five South Sudan political parties that walked out of Constitution Technical Committee announced today that they also withdrew from the Leadership Forum and will not endorse the draft Charter.

United Democratic Front leader, Peter Abdrhaman Sule, told journalists today in Juba that the five parties left the Leadership Forum because the SPLM failed to include the resolutions from last October’s All Parties Leadership Forum into the Transitional Constitution.

Mr. Sule explained that all South Sudan parties including the SPLM agreed to embed the resolutions of their assembly into the Transitional Constitution.

He added the parties will not recognize the Transitional Constitution because it represents the interest of the SPLM and does not include the aspirations of all Southerners.

Mr. Sule accused the ruling party of setting up a committee of SPLM loyalists to pass their prepared text into the Constitution.

The parties that withdraw from the Leadership Forum are United Democratic Front, Sudan People’s Liberation Movement for Democratic Change, South Sudan Democratic Front, Sudan Democratic Alliance and United South Sudan Party.
