Yirol Holy Cross Comboni Primary School in Lakes states reopened after intensive works to repair extensive damage from a windstorm at the beginning of April.
irol assistant parish priest Fr. Makokha Titus Henry told SCR News over the phone that the school administration managed to replace the roofs of 17 classrooms, two stores and two offices blow away by strong winds less than one month ago.The Kenyan Comboni Missionary added that the schools reopened and over 1,200 pupils are attending classes since Monday.
Fr. Makokha said there is still some confusion with teachers’ timetables and the feeding programme for pupils has not started yet.
The repair work cost almost 100 thousand Sudanese pounds.
Fr. Makokha added that the Yirol Catholic Mission run by the Comboni Missionaries this year opened a new primary school in town for cater for older students, returnees and displaced pupils from Mapuordit clashes.
He said the new St. Daniel Comboni Primary School has 575 students from grade one to eight.
