Renewed retaliatory attacks were reported in Mapuordit on Easter Sunday night, with shootings close to the hospital resulting in two deaths.Magdalen Awor, who runs the Rumbek Nursing School, told Good News Radio that the decision to postpone the intake of the new students was due to the renewed tribal violence in Mapuordit.
She said the school administration would not like to expose students to any danger.
Ms. Awor said selected 19 candidates from five different States of South Sudan were expected to report to Mapuordit this Sunday to start their course on Monday.
She added that her office recalled back to Rumbek seven third-year student nurses who were on placement at Mapuordit Hospital.
Ms. Awor appealed to the government to offer security around Mapuordit, explaining that the hospital is very critical in the area.
She also appealed to the communities in conflict to practice forgivingness and reconciliation.
