Major General Gabriel Gatwech Chan known as Tanginya is being held under house arrest in Juba waiting to be charged by the military.

SPLA spokesperson Colonel Philip Aguer Panyang told SCR News over the phone that Tanginha surrendered to the SPLA in Jonglei State after heavy clashes in Kaldak that killed 155, including 30 civilians.

He added that the general was flown from Malakal to Juba yesterday and is under house arrest waiting charges.

Aguer said Tanginya was coordinating with renegade commander George Athor and the two organized the attack to Fangak, Tanginyas’s home town, that killed over 200 people.

Aguer added that the 1200 or so soldiers loyal to Tanginya were brought to SPLA training centres to be integrated in the South Sudan armed forces.
