A top military figure has decried violence and tribalism practices in Eastern Equatoria state during Easter celebrations.

SPLA deputy chief of the general staff for political and moral orientation Lieutenant General Isaac Mamur on Sunday expresses his disappointment over spates of tribal engineered violence in Eastern Equatoria state asking God to unite Southerners to enable them complete their mission of freedom.

The general urged Southerners to concentrate on the unfinished businesses like the demarcation of the border, Abyei, oil issues and the popular consultations.

Mr. Mamur advised the people of Eastern Equatoria to desist from baseless conflicts that do not benefit them at all.

The General urged the people of Eastern Equatoria state to nurture the region in order to regain harmony from the past struggles and its bloodshed and loss of lives.

Mr. Mamur said Eastern Equatoria should follow on the footsteps of Fr. Saturlino Ohure, Emilio Taffeng and others who inspired the liberation struggle in the region and be an example to the whole of South Sudan.

The SPLA deputy chief of general staff, who hails from Eastern Equatoria, was among several leaders attending the Easter celebration at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Torit town.
