The national security office in Torit is still operational and Eastern Equatoria deputy governor refuted media report that the state closed the department.

Nartisio Manir Loluke made the clarification during a press conference in his office yesterday following news of disciplinary actions taken against some officers from the national security due to misconduct, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He said only the individuals who misbehaved would face courts of law, while the office is maintained operational.

Mr. Manir said on April 13 some individuals from the National Security broke into a police station and freed a detained colleague, breaking the law.

The deputy governor said the incident was an individual act and the National Security was handling the matter through its own channels.

Mr. Manir explained that nobody is above the law and security personnel, who are the custodians of the law, should be exemplary.

The deputy governor commented the Director of National Security for his positive co-operation with the state security council in handling the incident by informing the leadership of the institution in Juba.

Emmanuel Radio learned that the National Security office in Juba has set a committee to investigate the misconduct of its officers in Torit.
