A group of youths said independent South Sudan should provide quality education and security to all children in the country.

These views came at the Children & Youth Consultation workshop organized by UNICEF in collaboration with the Government of South Sudan yesterday in Juba.

Iv‡n AmŽzquita, UNICEF Communication for Development Coordinator, told SCR News that more than 100 youths from South Sudan shared their understanding about their present and future.

He said the workshop was meant for decision makers to listen to young voices.

Sukuje John, a participant from the University of Juba, said there was no safe environment for learning and teachers were not paid on time.

She added that the government should provide free education to all children, including the ones living in the streets.

Ms. Sukuje said the government should also provide security and health care services to all, not only for the people in Juba.

Bush Buse, a 20-year old student of University of Juba, said he wanted South Sudan to improve its education standards.

Mr. Buse added that there is need for quality education in order to produce a qualified workforce for the new country.
