The Catholic Diocese of Rumbek is preparing for South Sudan’s independence through a ten-week long programme of intense prayers.
Bishop Caesar Mazzolari prepared two books in Dinka and English to guide the faithful through the prayer crusade from May 1 to July 9, Don Bosco FM reported.The bishop explained that the books will provide ten themes of prayer for the ten weeks before the independence, like ten steps for unity and reconciliation.
Bishop Mazzolari said the programme will include two novenas, the first to the Holy Spirit preparing for Pentecost and the second during the nine days leading to Independence Day.
He added that the prayer crusade intends to bring people closer to God and to one another in the spirit of unity, justice and peace.
