A group discussed this morning the role of the civil society of South and North Sudan in maintaining a soft border between the two countries.
Edmond Yakani, program coordinator for Community Empowerment for Progress Organization, said the civil societies want to see a peaceful and social coexistence between citizens along the north-south border, Bakhita Radio reported.He added that the group said the soft border should not used as a tool for instigating conflict between the two countries but allow economic bilateral relationships.
Mr. Yakani explained that civil society groups should lobby leaders in their decisions regarding soft border issues.
The workshop was officially opened by Phillip Gai, Director of Peace in GoSS peace and CPA implementation.
The workshop will end tomorrow after producing some recommendations.
