Participants on the Equatoria Conference 2011 stressed the importance of the event as a forum for Equatorians to rally their common vision towards independence.
Aphram Wani Peter, Director General for Governance at GoSS ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, told SCR News that the conference provided an opportunity for intellectuals and leaders to speak up their minds.
He added that Equatorians do not have a forum to rally their dreams towards independence.
Mr. Wani said the conference is uniting all thoughts from the three states into one big common goal for independence.
He said Yambio, Juba and Torit might have different plans but now there is a common ground so that the Independence Day finds them prepared.
Jimmy Wango said the most remarkable fact was that the conference was called Equatoria and not Greater Equatoria because the Equatorians are one people living together in peace for all the years.
He added that it was very important for the unity of South Sudan that Equatorians remained united.
Dr. Wango said he was overwhelmed by the courage the three governors showed when they tackled issues of governance, security and service delivery to Equatorians.
