Yei River county wildlife department yesterday afternoon burnt dry wild meat that was seized on Wednesday.

Joseph Taban Zacharia is the Warden of Lantoto National Park. He told Easter Radio that the dry wild meat was burnt in Yei Freedom Square for citizens to know that killing wild animals was illegal.

He added that the laws and regulations do not permit anybody to hunt the animals in the game parks because wildlife is almost extinct.

Mr. Taban said nobody was allowed to kill animals for meat without permission from his department adding that anybody caught will be arrested, judged and the meat burnt.

He added that chimpanzees left Mugwo Payam due to the destruction of big trees.

The dry pieces of wild meat were seized in Tore Wande, about 40 milles from Yei, in the Mapoko-Adio road.
