A top brass from the South Sudan Army announced he is heading a new rebellion against the government demanding its dissolution.

Major general Peter Gadet Yak, SPLA former commander air defense and deputy commander of division three, defected to Khartoum to start the South Sudan Liberation Army after being granted permission to visit Nairobi for medical reasons.

On Monday, Mr. Gadet signed a document called The Mayom Declaration together with Brigadier General Carlo Kol, SPLA former Deputy Commander of joint integrated units in Juba and Bol Gatkouth Kol, an ex-SPLM Member of South Sudan Parliament.

The declaration criticizes GoSS governance calling it an absolute failure and asks for its substitution by a broad based cabinet drawing members from all parties of South Sudan.

It asks also for an all-party conference to establish the roadmap for the post-independence transition period including elections for a constituent assembly within two years.
