The governor of Central Equatoria said the government of South Sudan rejected a plot of land offered to establish the new federal capital.

Clement Wani Konga told the participants at the Equatoria Conference 2011 yesterday that his government offered a 25-square kilometre piece of land on the East Bank near Gumbo but the government turned it down.

He added that GoSS asked for land in the West Bank and Central Equatoria authorities allotted a 25-square kilometre plot at Korok Mountain along the Juba-Yei road but the government did not reply yet.

The governor accused GoSS investment minister Oyay Deng Ajak of creating division among the people of South Sudan with his ambitious plan for the new federal capital.

Mr. Wani said if minister Deng wanted land for investment he should write to all the ten governors.

He added that the minister does not have authority to ask for the relocation of the capital city from Juba.
