Insecurity and lack of funds from the Government of South Sudan have halted the flux of returnees from North Sudan, a UN official said.
Lise Grande, UN deputy humanitarian regional coordinator, told reporters today in Juba that there is continuing insecurity in South Kordofan. She added that the UN has plans to assist some 300,000 returnees that are expected in South Sudan before the independence.
Last year, a group of returnees was attacked by Misseriya tribesmen on their way to south Sudan.
