The minister of defense of Norway came to Juba a few days ago to study the CPA implementation and security situation.
Addressing the press before her departure at Juba airport, Minister Grete Faremo said she learnt as much as possible on the CPA implementation during her visit.She applauded the successful referendum adding that her government is looking forward to the declaration of South Sudan’s independence.
Ms Faremo added that the renegotiated mandate on UNMIS was also discussed together with security sector reform to be implemented by SPLA.
She mentioned that her government is looking for ways on how to build democratic institutions governing the security sector.
The minister revealed that her government is discussing possibilities of providing competent institutions for the new country.
