Lakes and Western Equatoria State Governors said GoSS will deploy SPLA and police forces in Mvolo and Yirol West counties to facilitate the return of displaced persons from the recent intertribal clashes.
Lakes state governor Chol Tong Maya said in joint press conference today in Juba that GoSS promised to deploy SPLA and police forces in the two counties following a security meeting on Saturday.He added that president Kiir issued a decree forming a five-men committee led by Nhail Deng, SPLA Affairs minister, and members from the ministry of interior to investigate the rootcauses of the conflict between Jur and Dinka-Atuot.
Governor Joseph Bangasi Bakasoro said the two governors met several times to resolve the conflict but could not put an end to it.
He added that deployment of forces on the buffer zones will stop hostilities among the two communities.
The clashes started with a single incident in February displacing thousands and killing dozens.
