U.S PLEDGES SUPPORT TO DEVELOP EASTERN EQUATORIA

The United State of America has pledged to fund development projects in South Sudan including Eastern Equatoria state.

The new project plan was revealed to the council of ministers on Thursday during the weekly meeting at the office of the governor in Torit, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Acting state spokesperson and minister for parliamentary affairs Clement Chichim Laku told the press that a team of ministers who toured the US briefed the council of ministers on the progress of their trip.

Mr. Laku says the US and Southern Sudan administrations signed a memorandum of understanding for development of the region.

The minister specified that the US government has already donated microscopes to Eastern Equatoria state to help improve health services but he did not disclose the number of the equipment.

Governor Louis Lobong Lojore received the news with gratitude.

He emphasizes that it was great that Eastern Equatoria state presented a concept paper on behalf and for the development of the entire South Sudan.

Eastern Equatoria had also impressed a delegation of USAID country team of 15 members after they were presented with the development concept paper for the state.

The delegation promised to help the state realize its planned activities.
